Paramount theme park to rival Disneyland by 2022
It would be twice the size of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and would also house a 2,000 seat cinema.
According to the proposed theme park’s local newspaper it would attract 50,000 people a day and would be inspired by Paramount films, BBC productions and Aardman Animations (Wallace and Gromit world? Yes please!).
The park, proposed for Kent, will include nods to Paramount’s most iconic films like Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and The Godfather.
The project is still in the planning stage, but they hope that it will get government approval for the site on the Swanscombe peninsula with work starting in 2019.
Humphrey Percy from the Kuwaiti European Holdings group behind the proposal said: ‘We are working with the railways to make sure there’s sufficient capacity.
‘We’re also considering having a boat from central London or Greenwich which will all be part of the attraction.’
Also on the cards is a theatre with West End-style shows, along with an indoor water park, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, shopping and an art-house style cinema.
Preliminary sketches were released showing what the park could look like, but a planning application is not expected until next year with doors opening in 2021.
