Helix tattoos are the new fancy art trend taking over Instagram

This is the next big ear trend and a little more permanent.

It's all over Instagram, people are proudly showcasing a snazzy new tattooing trend: the helix tattoo.

The trend is simply getting a tattoo on the ear’s upper-outer curve. It’s going big recently thanks to Seoul-based tattoo artist Zihee, who’s been creating all kinds of delicate, nature-inspired designs on people’s ears.

And with that we get the hype.

It is a feminine, delicate way to do tattooing, in a subtle area that’s easily hidden under long hair or showcased with an updo.

While the majority of the tatts spreading over Instagram are very much real, you can easily recreate the look on a temporary basis by snipping up tiny temporary tattoos and applying them along the ear.

Yes we’re big fans of the nature-inspired designs (flowers and climbing vines look sweet on any ear), but tougher types can always go more abstract or linear.
