Confusing hand of Gigi Hadid on the cover of Vogue

In case you missed it, Vogue’s latest cover is a glorious celebration of ‘modern American women’, featuring Liu Wen, Ashley Graham, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Imaan Hammam, Adwoa Aboah, and Vittoria Ceretti posing on a beach and looking all cool.

The cover’s been praised for its diversity in race and size, brilliantly depicting a model-y version of a bunch of people who can be described as the ‘modern American woman’.

But also, it declares that the modern American woman has one important feature.

A FREAKISHLY LONG ARM.

Peer closely at the hand on Ashley Graham’s waist in this picture:

Now, the way it’s placed, this hand looks like it belongs to Gigi Hadid.

If that is meant to be Gigi Hadid’s hand, then that means Gigi’s arm is incredibly long. Long enough to hold on to both Kendall and Ashley.

Or perhaps it’s been dodgily Photoshopped, which feels like the more likely option. We reckon we would have noticed if one of Gigi’s arms had been dragging on the floor this entire time.

It’s possible that the mystery hand is actually Ashley’s on her own waist, creating the illusion of a super long Gigi arm. But if that’s the case, where is Gigi’s hand? Is she able to bend her wrist at a sharp 90 degree angle?

What we’re asking, we supposes, is this: Is Gigi Hadid a long-armed wizard?

Another ~interesting~ thing we noticed about the cover is that – despite it’s proclaimed inclusive, body-positive message – Ashley Graham, the only plus-sized model on the cover – has been posed differently to the rest of the women.

Ashely is the only one not wearing brightly coloured, patterned bikini bottoms.
