Young cancer victim, has final wish fulfilled as she ‘dies beautiful’
The is wish is 'To die beautiful'
Her name is Racine Pregunta, 20, and was diagnosed osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, last October.
Her family launched an emotional appeal for financial donations to help with medical support and a specific blood type to help Racine battle the disease. But sadly the 20-year-old lost her battle on Monday in Davao City, in the southern Philippines.
Her family now have fulfilled her final request by making sure she was buried the way she wanted.
Outlining a detailed list for her funeral just days before, Racine told them: ‘If I die, I want to die BEAUTIFUL’.
She asked to wear a special dress, a floral headband and make-up and left behind burial instructions so her farewell was just they way she wanted.
Heartbreaking images of the young woman from her funeral show her in an open casket looking peaceful.
According to her sister Rolyn Pregunta, Racine, who had previously modelled, made the request after being ‘inspired’ by a 2016 Filipino comedy, Die Beautiful.
The film is centred around a transgender woman who dies while being crowned in a beauty pageant.
Sharing her sister’s requests on Facebook, Rolyn said Racine requested for her ‘personal make-up artist’ to do her make-up, to wear a white off-the-shoulder dress and a white flower headband.
She also wanted something violet, blue and mint green, which was represented in her funeral flowers.
Rolyn wrote: ‘Today, request fulfilled and there all I see is you, smiling. On the way to the sunset, friends and family gathered and bid their last farewell to Racine who now sleeps beautifully forever.
‘You will always remain in our hearts.’
