Using your smartphone in Smart bag to clean smelly gym kits on the go
When you are going to the gym, what becomes a priority is you’re either washing your leggings twice a day, you own seven pairs, or you have to put up with a distinctly vinegary smell and hope no one gets too close to you during hot yoga.
A California-based startup has developed a carry-all that cleans your gym kit (trainers included) for you.
This fashion tech firm Paqsule have made what could well be the first bag to double-up as a dry-cleaner. The Items inside are blasted with oxygen and UV lights, leaving clothes smelling fresh and clean in under half an hour.
The method that they used is based on technology used by dry cleaners for years, but now allows people to spruce up their stuff on-the-go. It’s perfect for freshening-up sweaty gym kits or keeping medical equipment free from germs and can be controlled from your smartphone.
This self-cleaning bag connects to an app on your smartphone, and comes with a re-chargeable battery so you can clean your kit on the go. There are three different cycle times: 15, 25, or 35 minutes, which you can select manually through your phone.
Paqsule is also experimenting with geo-location technology, so the bag could clean your sweaty trainers as soon as you leave the gym.
It even comes with a smartphone charger, so you always have the power to clean.
Since launching the crowdfunding campaign back in March, Paqsule has nearly quadrupled its target, attracting more than $93,000 (£74,139) of investments from backers all over the world.
Now that the bag has been fully developed, Paqsule says it wants to start shipping as soon as possible.
The company says it will start shipping the first orders to lazy gym-bunnies in June.
The bags, which retail at $279 (£222), are very roomy, and can carry up to four days worth of clothes. Perfect for a long, dirty weekend.
