YouTuber PewDiePie announced hiring a production assistant

PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, stated that ‘We’re looking to expand the team, check out the link below for more details on how to apply’.

The post has received just under 7000 likes to date, with many commenting that they wish they could apply – but can’t.

Why not? Because a requirement of the role is that the candidate moves to Brighton, where Felix is currently based.

What does the job involve?

Upon clicking the link, you’re taken to a Google Docs form, which outlines the job description.

We are seeking a production assistant to join our team located in Brighton, UK on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will construct creative content ideas for a successful YouTube channel alongside managing video uploads and scheduling.

Aims Of The Job:

The producer will work closely with creators to develop daily content for the channel. They must have strong initiative and be capable of creating relevant and unique video content on a daily basis that is in theme with the channel’s current content.

Role Requirements:

• Previous experience in production is essential
• Must have a strong knowledge of the YouTube platform
• Understanding of video game and internet culture
• Knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro/Sony Vegas
• Ability to come up with creative ideas on a daily basis
• Capacity to work to tight deadlines
• Good at time management and scheduling
• Must be willing to relocate to Brighton
• Age 18 years or older

Some commenters said that PewDiePie must be out of ideas, so was resorting to paying someone to ‘think for him’ – however, others made the point that many influencers have teams of advisors.

It may be wise not to take this announcement 100% seriously just yet – PewDiePie has been known to do things that have received widespread attention in the media.

For example, nine of his videos were found to contain explicit Nazi imagery and racist jokes last month, leading Disney to cut ties, and in December, he said he was going to delete his channel once he hit 50 million subscribers – which turned out to be a troll.

To be in with a chance, head to the Google Docs page – but don’t be surprised if you eagerly apply, just to find out in a few weeks that the whole thing was a practical joke.
