Texas new bill proposal to fine men $100 for masturbating
It was put forward by Democrat representative Jessica Farrar on Friday and, while it has no chance of becoming law, is making a very important point.
Although the new bill’s proposed regulations might seem ridiculous they are actually intended to mirror similar regulations faced by women every day.
For instance, the bill requires men to wait 24 hours after an ‘initial health care consultation’ to receive an elective-vasectomy, colonoscopy or Viagra prescription.
This mirrors a 2011 law passed in Texas that forces women to have an ultrasound scan at least 24 hours before an abortion, which Ms. Farrar said ‘messes with women’s heads’.
Then there’s the satirical bill’s stipulation that men are passed a booklet of materials titled ‘A Man’s Right to Know’ before seeking those procedures with a list of concerns and medical information.
That mocks a booklet entitled ‘A Woman’s Right to Know’ that doctors are legally required to give women seeking an abortion in the state.
But the most eye-catching – and funniest – law bans ‘unregulated masturbatory emissions’.
‘Emissions outside of a woman’s vagina, or created outside of a health or medical facility, will be charged a $100 civil penalty for each emission, and will be considered an act against an unborn child,’ the four-page bill reads.
‘Furthermore, emissions created in medical facilities “will be stored for the purposes of conception for a current or future wife.’
The politician told the Houston Chronicle: ‘A lot of people find the bill funny.
‘What’s not funny are the obstacles that Texas women face every day, that were placed there by legislatures making it very difficult for them to access health care.
‘Especially with Trump as president, I think these folks are on fire now. They’re off the chain now,” she added to the Texas Tribune.
