Stella McCartney ‘skin free skin’ at Paris Fashion Week

The famously cruelty-free designer filled her runway with models wearing designs in what seemed to be luxurious leather.

Anyone who knows even a tiny bit about fashion knows that Stella McCartney takes an ethical standpoint on in the inclusion of leather and fur in her collections, which has meant that in the past, her lines have not included these types of textiles.

After the show, Stella apparently shunned photos with front row celebs in order to talk about what she has been doing – specifically the fact that science has advanced enough that she’s now able to use a faux leather that feels appropriately high-end.

McCartney makes no bones about the fact that real leather looks beautiful in clothing – which is refreshingly honest. In previous collections, Stella had to avoid that look rather than put a cheap imitation on the runway. But no-more.
McCartney explained:
Until recently, I avoided using fake [leather] because it never looked luxurious enough. I am so excited that we have finally developed fabrics that look just as good as the real thing and therefore genuinely pose a question to the industry about why anyone needs to use leather anymore.
