BBC apologizes for announcing death of Mark E Smith by mistake
Posted from the BBC Music Twitter account, the since deleted tweet read ‘RIP Mark E Smith’ coupled with the most sincere of responses – a sad face emoji.
The BBC have since apologised for the mix-up which occurred on the singer’s 60th birthday, which was due to a ‘human error’.
A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed in a statement: ‘This was a genuine human error and the message was posted by mistake and swiftly deleted. We apologise for the error.’
Quick to switch into the party spirit, the account later tweeted ‘Happy 60thMark E Smith’ with a party-popper emoji.
Everybody dance now? Please?
The Fall’s last album titled Sub-Lingual Tablet was released back in 2015.
