Smart dildos are actually spying on your vagina

But a company making smart dildos has done something much, much worse – it’s been spying on its customers’ vaginas.

We-Vibe has been ordered to pay users up to £6,120 each, after its smart dildo was found to be transmitting details to a remote server – including temperature changes, the settings users chose and their email addresses.

Standard Innovation, makers of the vibrator, are to pay out £2.4 million to users.

Earlier this year, security firm Trend Micro warned that the trend for ‘smart’ sex toys could leave users at risk of hackers.

Trend Micro spokesman Raimund Genes said, ‘If I hack a vibrator it’s just fun. But if I can get to the back-end, I can blackmail the manufacturer.’

Note: by back-end, he doesn’t mean what you think he means, he’s talking about programs not directly accessed by the user, which might contain private data.
