Tyka Nelson, 56, has now spoken about her brother’s death on upcoming People And ABC special, People Icons: Gone Too Soon.
In her interview, she says: ‘About three years ago he called, he said, “I think I’ve done everything I’ve come to do.” My dad and Prince always spoke in these types of riddles. He knew [he was going to die soon]. And he was preparing me. It’s very clear.
‘He needed to go. He was tired. Instead of crying, dance. He didn’t like me to cry, so I don’t want them to cry either.’

Tyka also remembered the last time that she had seen her brother at Paisley Park days before he died.
‘The last day I saw him, we were making jokes. We hugged three times.’
This however was not the first time that Tyka had hinted at him knowing what was heading his way.

In an interview with ET last October, she said: ‘He said it a couple of years ago: “I’ve done everything that I’ve come to do” – I was crushed for about two years.
‘I’ve had two years to deal with it, but there’s a lot of people that have only had from April to now, so I guess I would say give it another year and a half and maybe you’ll be where I’m at.
‘I’m sorry that you’re hurting.’
