Game Of Thrones' last season will only have 6 episodes

Appearing on a SXSW panel alongside show stars’ Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, the pair revealed how their current plans for the final season spans across a six episode timeframe, instead of the usual ten.

Speaking at the festival, Benioff said: ‘We have a 140 page outline for what’s only going to be six episodes for the final season.’
While it was previously rumoured to be the case, hearing the official confirmation from the maker’s mouth still hurts, doesn’t it?
Coupled with the shortened upcoming season seven which contains a mere seven episodes, we should probably start savouring every last morsel of Westeros drama left in the tank.
While many might be concerned over whether the show will be able to concoct a satisfying finale in such a small timeframe, it could be a positive sign they’re trimming the fat which bogged down a large portion of season six.

Talking about how they’ve managed to keep spoilers under wraps, Benioff replied: ‘People had the spoilers of Ned’s death in a f**king book and somehow that season still worked.’
In the same panel, it was also revealed Ed Sheeran will be making a cameo appearance in the seventh season.
We’re not convinced Cersei Lannister will appreciate Thinking Out Loud to be honest.
