Bracelet for LDR lets you ‘touch’ your partner

Most of the time, life goes on. You can make do with messaging sweet nothings on Whatsapp and getting jiggy over FaceTime.

But how do you let your SO know you care when their phone is on silent?
Luckily, a Dutch tech firm has found a gap in the romantic tech market and created a smart bracelet that gives your better half loving attention for you.
From online florists to virtual snogging, companies have invested thousands of pounds over the years to help star-crossed lovers feel connected.
Now House of Haptics has created a wristband which lets you show affection even when you’re oceans apart, claiming it is the first bracelet to ‘mimic real human touch.’

Unlike most essential items for a long-distance romances, this isn’t a vibrator.
The Hey bracelet, which launched on Kickstarter in January, allows people to “squeeze” their partner’s wrist with something called haptic technology. Instead of the familiar buzz of a sex toy, the bracelet tightens around your wrist, so your SO can be there to hold your hand when they’re miles away.
To give your lover a little squeeze, you both need to pair your bracelets with your phones via Bluetooth. Then, you can digitally transmit your affection by pressing over two parts of the bracelet, which sends an alert to your partner’s app and makes their bracelet to gently tighten around their wrist.
House of Haptics has already raised almost €100,000 (£85,330) to produce the bracelets, which will retail at around €120 (£102) per pair.

House of Haptics has been working on the bracelet for nearly two years. The company claims the Hey, which is also showerproof like a Fitbit and can fully charge in 30 minutes, will be ready for shipping by August.
The wearable tech aims to solve a major problem with the practicalities of a long-distance relationship. Scores of studies prove that physical contact like hugging and handholding can benefit your mental health, but maybe technology can fill some of the gaps.
