The Rock made a phone call to CM Punk at WWE Raw

Johnson was at Raw filming his new movie based on the life of WWE’s Paige, when the crowd started chanting for CM Punk after his real-life wife AJ Lee was portrayed in a scene.

Buoyed on by the fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Johnson made the call to Punk who did not answer the phone.

The former WWE Champion and current UFC fighter did tweet an excuse however, as he revealed that he has been walking his beloved dog Larry at the time of the phone call.

Punk later thanked the fans for chanting his name at the arena, in one of the first times he has directly referenced the WWE fanbase since his acrimonious departure.

It was the day after the 2014 Royal Rumble that Punk quit the company, and he is currently embroiled in a lawsuit with WWE doctor Chris Amann following comments he made in a podcast interview with Colt Cabana.

After losing his UFC debut inside three minutes against Mickey Gall last year some insiders tipped Punk for a WWE comeback, but he seems determined to fight again.
