The Haka: New Zealand police perform to inspire new recruits
The Haka, Dance of War, is a traditional Maori dance usually performed on the battlefield is a fierce display of pride, strength and unity.
The prison guards performed it as part of an international recruitment campaign, to counter the booming prison population, which has hit a record high.
The Correction Department sought five hundred new guards from New Zealand, Australia, the UK and South Africa. The New Zealand prison system is under immense strain as there are currently 10,200 inmates behind bars, with the Correction Department projecting 1800 new prisoner places by 2021.
