Paris rioters launched missiles at police and set a car on fire
A peaceful demonstration turned into anarchy as police wearing riot gear took on hundreds of protesters in Bobigny, just outside Paris.
Missiles were thrown at police and a car was set ablaze as officers’ retaliated with tear gas on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, people gathered outside a courthouse calling for justice for the black youth, only known as Theo, who claimed police raped him with a truncheon in Aulnay-sous-Bois last Thursday.
The young man is still in hospital being treated for a ‘four-inch deep anal tear’.
Authorities have not identified the young man, but crowds of supporters have been marching in ‘Justice Pour Theo’ (Justice For Theo) shirts.
One officer was charged with aggravated rape and three others with aggravated assault, but all deny the allegations.
A police insider said the victim’s trousers ‘slipped down on their own’ and the truncheon went up his anus ‘by accident’.
In an interview with BFM television, the youth worker said he was stopped by four officers during an identity check, but was hit and peppered with racist insults.
At some point, one of the officers took his truncheon and ‘he drove it into my buttocks,’ he said.
All four officers face trial.
