Easy to use automatic translator will make travelling the world so much easier

So it’s a bit of a relief to know that this could be a thing of the past.

A device called ‘ili’, made by Japanese company Logbar, promises to automatically translate sentences in real time.

At the moment it only works with English, Japanese and Chinese, but the hope is that more languages will be added over time.

It apparently lets you translate up to 50,000 words and phrases without WiFi or mobile data, which could be handy if you’re stuck in the wilderness somewhere.

According to the website, the ili’s ‘intuitive user interface allows you to use the device as if you’re directly communicating with the other person’.

‘ili is loaded with a library of phrases that are commonly used by travellers, minimising translation errors,’ the site added.

‘The library also includes words associated with places and latest trends for a seamless communication experience.’

The wearable translator was first unveiled in January last year, but its website has only just got up and running.

And, according to the site, it’s set to be released to US businesses in June 2017 – although hopefully the UK won’t follow too far behind.
