A ten-year-old boy has survived a bite from a deadly spider
The funnel-web bit Matthew Mitchell on the finger while he was clearing a shed with his dad on Monday.
But anti-venom has limited its danger since it was produced in the 1980s – when the last death related to the spider was recorded.

The youngster started to convulse and things were not looking good for him following the bite at his home in Sydney, Australia.
But his quick-thinking relatives managed to save his life by slowing the flow of the venom by wrapping a shirt around his wound.
They then took him to the hospital where he was injected with a record 12 anti-venom vials.
‘I’ve never heard of it, it’s incredible,’ said Tim Faulkner, the general manager of the Australian Reptile Park which took the spider after it was caught.
