The black eight-ball emoji is popping up due to a viral message which is spreading via Facebook Messenger – urging men to post the image on Facebook.

The message says, ‘Hi mate, trying to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
Can all you men (just men) please put on your wall, don’t comment, then send this on to all your male mates.
‘Hold your finger on this message and hit forward.

Similar campaigns have asked users to post red ribbons, to raise awareness of World AIDS day – but in this case, it appears to be unofficial.
Prostate cancer is still common – making up more than half of new cancer cases in England, along with breast, lung and bowel cancer.
Prostate cancer patients also face the biggest survival gap, with a 98 per cent increased risk of death depending on where you happen to live.
The number of new cancer cases in England are the highest on record and continue to rise.
There were 299,923 diagnoses registered in 2015 – the equivalent of 822 per day, the Office for National Statistics reported.
