A former soldier who has injected oil into his arms so he can look like Popeye is seen dancing, posing and shadowboxing in a bizarre video - despite medics warning he could end up paralysed.

Russian Kirill Tereshin, 21, has become famous around the world for his 24 inch biceps, but experts are appalled by the risks he's taking.

The bodybuilder has been using site enhancement oil, commonly known as synthol .

He added 10 inches to his biceps in the space of just 10 days after leaving the army in the summer.

Tereshin is seen proudly showing off his arms in the clip.

The video, taken in the city of Pyatigorsk in southwestern Russia, lifting his frame on bars in an outdoor exercise area.

Doctor Yuriy Serebryanskiny is warning that his bodybuilding obsession could end in disaster.

He said: "He could lose movement in his arms, the muscles could turn into ballast that he won't be able to use to lift things. He could end up disabled."

And professional powerlifter Kirill Sychev agreed, stating: "You can see it in his face, there is something unhealthy about it.

"This is a person, who needs complex medical help. Not just to drain his arms and detox his blood, but also psychiatric help."

Tereshin says he plans to continue with his risky regime, which also includes workouts, and hopes to one day break bodybuilding records.

He said: "In order to reach such a size, you need to inject liters into your arms.

"I was doing it and getting a fever of up to 40 degrees, I was lying in bed, feeling like I was dying, but then it all turned out fine."

Doctors warn that synthol can cause pulmonary embolisms, nerve damage, infections, sclerosing lipogranuloma, stroke and oil-filled cysts or ulcers in the muscle.

Despite this, many bodybuilders use it to enhance their muscles and it is not restricted, with many brands available on the internet.
