Pastry chef amazingly maked incredible Rubik’s cube style cakes
We all do pictured ourselves being magically able to master the Rubik’s cube in under a minute, with zero practice or hasty Googling of the technique.
And when I got my eager hands on someone else’s Rubik’s cube, I was always entirely stumped. But that didn’t stop me from dreaming I was a Rubik’s master in training, desperately wishing each Christmas that I’d get the colourful cube I so desperately wanted.
These cakes have brought it all rushing back.
And because there’s one thing better than a mind-based puzzle, and that’s a puzzle made of cake.
A pastry chef and general genius of baking, Cédric Grolet, is getting loads of attention on the internet thanks to his snazzy Rubik’s cakes. Yes. These are teeny cubes of cakes arranged into Rubik’s cube inspired designs.
However, they’re not all connected, so you can’t actually figure out the puzzle then eat your hard-work.
But still you can Instagram the cakes and eat something delicious. Which is probably just as satisfying.
And as well as looking delightful, the cakes likely taste brilliant too.
He is a wizard of sugar-based delights, and each cube has its own flavour. They’re perfect for sharing, but you could definitely eat one alone.
And that’s not the only genius bit of baking Cédric is responsible for bestowing unto the world.
He also makes glossy fake apples *filled with actual apples*
And the same idea, but with lemons…
…pears…
…and limes.
Basically, he’s very good at making fake fruit.
But also daisies crafted from coconut, chocolate, and lemon zest
Plus magical golden spheres
And truly incredible chocolate sculptures
Oh, and this.
Basically, he’s very skilled and I’d very much like him to be my personal chef.
