Chris Evans has hinted that his Captain America contract is up
Chris Evans is confirming his contract on the Marvel movie franchise is up after the as-yet untitled Captain America 4 during a chat on Monday’s episode of The Ellen Show, Chris admitted that he’s currently preparing to hand back his shield once filming wraps.
While discussing filming for 2018’s Avengers Infinity War, he told Ellen: ‘They’ve been filming since February. I don’t start until May. There’s so many people involved.’
And when asked directly by Ellen, ‘is this possibly the last time that you’re Captain America?’, Evans, 35, didn’t think twice before admitting that it quite possibly might be the end for Steve Rogers aka Captain America.
‘It is,’ he replied. ‘My contact is up. I have Avengers three and four. We do Avengers three now and four is the latter part of the year and after that, that is the end of my contract.’
Of course, an actor or actress reaching the end of their contract doesn’t mean that’s the end, as contracts can easily be extended.
But for now, it looks like Evans is very much waiting for a call from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the meantime, fans will be able to see him in upcoming movie Jekyll, based on Jekyll and Hyde, which Ellen herself is producing.
Filming for Avengers: Infinity War and the fourth instalment is currently taking place in Edinburgh and Glasgow before it then moves to the Scottish Highlands.
Marvel fans had better get their tissues ready as it’s also expected to be the last outing for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk.
