Singing dog called Jake performs on BBC News

Jake the terrier, 4, is excellent at scaring off seagulls for his day job – but that wasn’t why he was invited on TV.

He came on air to show off his extracurricular hobby, as a karaoke night regular at the Stag’s Head pub in Carnoustie, Scotland.

Introduced with the caption ‘Jake: Singing dog’, he was enticed into showing his skills by the presenters repeating ‘Cheese’ in a high pitched voice.

It really has to be seen to be appreciated:

‘There are certain specific words we can use and he’ll sing along to,’ his owner Carl Nielsen said.

‘He sings Beach Boys songs, he loves Sloop John B and he loves singing along to the solo guitar parts of Pink Floyd.’

For his 9 to 5, Jake is a harbour dog in Arbroath.
