Mum who hid baby son’s body for 11 years is jailed
Victoria Gayle, 32, was given a 21 month prison term at Kingston Crown Court today.
She had previously admitted preventing a lawful burial after the remains of her son Kyzer were found in a garden shed last May.
The remains were found in Hendon, north London, at the home of Gayle’s mother and step-father, who didn’t know about the death.
Kyzer was estimated to be around 13 or 14 months old when he died and his remains showed he was malnourished.
Judge Susan Tapping told Gayle: ‘Your little boy was denied a decent burial. A web of lies began in 2014 and went on to every authority that tried to find out what had happened to him.
‘The full truth of his sad and short life will never be known.’
The cause of Kyzer’s death remains a mystery after two post mortems failed to determine how he had died.
The cause of his death was given as ‘unascertained’.
Gayle, of no fixed address, denied perjury and perverting the course of justice. These allegations will lie on file.
