Man stabbed best friend in the head with scissors

Joshua Hare chased down Matthew Holmes after he told him he didn’t have money to buy him a £1 beer and then insulted his mother.

Man stabbed best friend in the head with scissors

When he caught up with him in Salisbury city centre, Wiltshire, he stabbed him in the head, neck and hand as terrified shoppers looked on.
‘I actually thought I was going to die. I didn’t know if he had got my jugular,’ Mr Holmes told police after the attack.
‘All I saw was all the blood, I thought I was bleeding out badly.’
Witnesses rushed to help Mr Holmes in Brown Street car park and he was eventually taken to hospital.
He still has problems using his hands as a result of the assault.
Hare – who has 21 convictions for a string of violent crimes – admitted wounding with intent.
He had got the scissors from a barber shop.
Defence barrister Audrey Archer had told Salisbury Crown Court Hare had not meant to cause serious injury but Judge Cutler dismissed this.
‘He wasn’t going to give him a haircut, was he?,’ the judge said.
Hare was jailed for a decade and will serve four years in custody and six out on licence.
