Horrifying moment ride crashes into ground injuring nine

The ride had been placed at a festival in Xihe county, in northwest China’s Gansu Province, on March 9, when it collapsed.

The swing ride had just taken off when the top frame, carrying suspended chairs hanging by chains, dropped without warning, slamming the passengers to the ground.

The short video shows the moment the swings spin around before it comes crashing down.

Witnesses told Beijing Youth Daily that the ride was about four or five metres in the air when when an iron column on the ride snapped and a loud ‘bang’ was heard.

Passengers were then sent crashing to the floor causing onlookers to scream in panic.

One witness said: ‘Fortunately, it was not completely into its cycle, because if it was it would’ve been much higher up and more people would have been hurt.’

One person was seriously injured and was taken to the First People’s Hospital in Tianshui City.

Eight others were taken to the Xingkang Hospital Observation for minor injuries
