Heineken’s first alcohol-free beer coming soon
But doesn’t necessarily mean you want to be stuck with an orange juice or diet Pepsi all night long.
Which is why the arrival of a new lager will be music to many of our ears, as Heineken is rolling out a new 0% lager into high street stores.
Heineken 0.0 is to be sold in rather pretty blue-and-green bottles, and also the brewing company’s iconic (and in my opinion, irritatingly small) cans.
Heineken reportedly told trade magazine The Grocer that the new lager’s aimed at health-conscious young drinkers.
Because besides the whole booze-free aspect, it’s also pretty low in calories at 21 per 100ml.
It’s also not meant to make you forgo taste, either, as the company’s premium brands director David Lette told the magazine it’ll be the ‘best tasting no-alcohol lager’ out there.
We’ll have to taste it ourselves to test that claim, but if it does turn out to satisfy one’s craving for a cold, crisp beer, that’ll be good news for those looking to change the way they drink.
After all, Heineken is right in thinking that young people are drinking less.
Whether this becomes a long-term trend, we’ll have to see – but the wider the selection of low-alcohol or alcohol-free drinks out there, the better.
