Footage of the upcoming Jumanji film has been unveiled
It is being billed as a sequel, will move the conceit from a board game which springs to life to a video game to the original 1995 classic and has been titled Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.
Footage reveals that the film will begin with four teengers who discover an old games console when they are ordered to clean out their school’s basement during detention.
The console includes the game Jumanji, which asks players to pick a character but soon the teens become their characters as the game comes to life – leaving one nerd looking like The Rock and a popular teen girl looking like Jack Black; the footage also reveals why Karen Gillan’s outfit in promotional pictures is so skimpy.
Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas also star.
The footage was shown at CinemaCon on Monday night, and was deemed ‘crowd-pleasing’ and ‘super-fun’ by those in attendance.
Jumanji was a 1995 box office, built as a star vehicle for Robin Williams at the height of his success in the mid-90s.
Based on the 1981 book by Chris Van Allsburg, Jumanji follows a young boy and his sister who uncover a jungle board game but soon discover that all the animals spring to life and spiral out of control when they begin to play.
