Why is Domino’s pizza so expensive?

Pizza lovers, you may want to sit down for this one… or book the next flight to New Zealand.

It has come to our attention that customers in the UK are paying around four times the price for a Domino’s Pizza than they would on the other side of the world.

In fact, it’s priced so low over there, that it is classed as a ‘cheap takeaway’ by locals.

We’re sorry to bring you such bad news on National Pizza Day.

Figures show that while a large margherita in the UK costs £14.99, in New Zealand it is just £2.87.

It’s a similar situation with margheritas in Australia coming to £3.04.

We’re even paying more than people in the US with the same pizza in New York costing £11.93. That’s still ridiculously over-priced for a basic cheese and tomato pizza, of course.

As you can see from the table above, it looks like a similar situation with lots of other pizzas.

It’s not just us that have noticed the gap… people from all over the world have been left shocked while abroad.

Charlotte Milton, 26, was living off of a budget when she moved over to the UK from New Zealand and decided to call the local ‘cheap takeaway’.
