Touching post of a dad on why he still helps and respects his ex-wife

Often divorces end in a difficult mash of visitation rights and child maintenance fees – not estranged partners coming over to make each other birthday breakfasts.

But one divorced dad has written a moving Facebook post explaining why he does just that.
Billy Flynn says that on the morning of his ex’s birthday, he ‘got up early and brought flowers and cards and a gift over for the kids to give her and helped them make her breakfast’.
Sick of being continually asked why he still does things like this for his former partner, Billy says that he wants to set an example for his sons.
‘I’m raising two little men,’ his post – which has been shared by the Love What Matters Facebook page – begins.
‘The example I set for how I treat their mum is going to significantly shape how they see and treat women and affect their perception of relationships.’
He goes on to say that that’s even more crucial in their case because he’s divorced.
‘So if you aren’t modelling good relationship behaviour for your kids, get your shit together.
‘Rise above it and be an example. This is bigger than you.
‘Raise good men. Raise strong women. Please. The world needs them, now more than ever.’
Thousands of people have commented on the post, which has well over 200k shares – commending Billy for his attitude.
‘This man is setting an amazing example for not only his young sons but males everywhere!’ writes one person.
