New York Fashion Week are sending a powerful anti-Trump message

So while Trump may not be too happy that designers are currently refusing to dress Melania and Nordstrom is pulling Ivanka Trump’s products from their stores, he shouldn’t be too surprised. Fashion has long been used to make powerful political statements.

Over at New York Fashion Week, plenty of designers and fashion types are using their platform to take a stand.

LRS Studio sent models down the runway in underwear emblazoned with: ‘F*** YOUR WALL’, in protest of President Trump’s plans to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

Calvin Klein, meanwhile, skipped the loud motifs and went for a more subtle anti-Trump approach.

As models walked the runway, ‘This Is Not America’ by David Bowie played.

Guests at the show were also given white bandanas as part of #TiedTogether, an initiative created by Business of Fashion to promote unity and inclusiveness.

It’s a pretty big deal for Calvin Klein to be getting political, as there was a lot of excitement around this particular show. It’s the first one with Raf Simons serving as the brand’s chief creative director.

Well done to designers for using their influence to send an important message.
