Hugh Jackman reveals he is being treated again for skin cancer

The 48-year-old has already had several surgeries on his nose to treat skin cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2013.

In a tweet posted on Monday evening, Jackman revealed that he was undergoing further treatment and said it was thanks to frequent checks and amazing doctors that his non-melanoma cancer had been identified.

The Les Miserables actor has had to have his skin checked every three months since he was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma cancer in 2013.
He previously had a cancer removed from his shoulder and has been very vocal in urging others to get checked and protect themselves using sun-cream.
In 2015, Jackman told People magazine: ‘It’s always a bit of a shock just hearing the word “cancer”. Being an Australian, [skin cancer] is a very common thing. I never wore sunscreen growing up so I was a prime candidate for it.’

‘I was trying to keep calm about it… basal cell carcinoma is just something you have to deal with. It’s cancerous. It will grow. You just have to get it out.
‘I go every three months for checkups. It’s the new normal for me. My doctor says I’ll likely have more and if that’s your cross to bear in life, you should be so lucky.’

He has also praised fellow Australian star Nicole Kidman for demonstrating the beauty of paler skin and encouraging people to embrace their natural complexion.
He added: ‘I’m heartened to see the idea that to be sexy and beautiful you have to be tanned is gone.
‘People like Nicole Kidman have done a great job.
‘She was made fun of when she was a kid in Australia because she stayed in the shade. No one is making fun of her now.’
