Four children and man have all been taken to hospital after a fire at a house.

Three girls, a boy and a man have all been taken to hospital after a fire at a house.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Withington, Manchester, at about 2.20am on Friday.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said one man and four children, aged between 10 and 17, were taken to hospital.



Four fire engines were called to the scene in Parsonage Road, along with police and ambulances.

The cause of the blaze is due to be investigated jointly with Greater Manchester Police.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said the three girls and a boy were being treated in hospital for their injuries.

The man who was also taken to hospital was said to be in a serious condition.

GMP Superintendent Mark Kenny said: ‘This is a tragic incident and we are working closely with GMFRS to establish exactly how this fire started.

‘We want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the fire, or were in the area in the hours before the fire.’
